Big Brother 9 Live Feeds, April 20th – Finally Things Start to Get Interesting

Author Carrie

Laura and I were discussing this season last night, and we both noticed that it’s taken a pressured situation at the very end of the season to make things interesting on the feeds and the show in general. I’m not sure what it is about Big Brother 9 that’s made it almost a non-entity even for a die-hard fan like myself, but it’s been difficult to really care what happens in the house lately. I still don’t care who wins, but the fact that there’s some mystery in the air right now is actually heightening the entertainment value. Finally.

Setting the Stage: The hamsters are on indoor lockdown all day today, so they’re already annoyed that they can’t lay out, smoke, use the grill, or go swimming. Add to this the fact that Sheila is still feeling “hormonal” and bitching quite a bit to the boys, and we’ve got a lot of frayed nerves combined with cabin fever. It doesn’t make for a very good mix.

Topic of the Day: Speculation on how the next week (they think it’s 10 days) will play out is the main topic of discussion. Adam is convinced that things are being sped up, especially when Ryan gets the digital camera and computer to write his HoH blog. There’s something being built in the backyard, and they figure out that it’s not a luxury or food comp, so it has to be HoH.

By the end of the day though, BB has confirmed for them that the eviction that they thought they had on Wednesday will instead be on Monday, followed by part one of the final HoH comp. Part two will happen on Tuesday, and then the last part of the HoH will air live on Wednesday night’s show, after which the last remaining jury member will be evicted. The houseguests still think that the final two will have to spend an entire week in the house by themselves though. Adam repeats several times that Julie will be there on Monday, and keeps calling it a “live eviction.”

Sharon Tries a Different Tactic: Sharon spent some time today blow-drying her hair and putting makeup on, and then dressed in a revealing little top. The boys noticed her appearance and commented on it, and she proceeded to strike a few “leaning” poses in front of them, showing off her cleavage. Not sure if it worked or not, but Sheila sure noticed this new angle of Sharon’s.

Strategy Talks: Sheila’s in a funk today, especially when she finds out that she doesn’t have the luxury of time to work on Adam to keep her in the house. These two start the day off by arguing, and Adam calls her a “bitch.” Sheila doesn’t like this word and tells Adam this in no uncertain terms. So they’re not getting along very well at all, and Sheila keeps insisting that she’s not going to kiss Adam’s ass just for his vote.

Sheila tries a few times to talk with Adam, but he seems to have removed himself from the whole scene with her. It’s like he’s intentionally putting some distance between them so that his vote against her won’t be a complete shock. Sheila tells him that she’s had his back this entire game, and now there’s nothing she can do because her life is in his hands. She promises that she still wants the two of them there together at the end, and thinks that Adam would win the game over her and do great things with the money. Every time she approaches him to talk though, he buries his head in the bible or just doesn’t reply.

Adam goes to Sharon and offers her a final two deal if he votes to keep her this week. She kind of agrees, without actually committing to it. He wants to know if she has something going with Ryan, and she says no and wonders why she would make a deal with him when she never even talks to the guy. They decide that Sheila is being shady because she’s obviously the one with the existing relationship, but she won’t ‘fess up to anyone about it.

The DR is calling people in to say their goodbye messages, and they have to record them for everyone but Ryan. All three of them will have to pack their bags before the eviction tomorrow, and everyone is flipping out that tomorrow is going to be a big day. Huge. Epic. Sharon thinks that the bell is going to ring, and they’ll all have five minutes to pack their bags before a live competition and eviction. I don’t know where she’s pulling this out of though.

Sheila goes to Ryan to try and plead her case, but he’s non-committal and tells her that he doesn’t know what he wants to do, and that the vote will probably be up to Adam. She tries to stress that they still don’t know what Sharon is capable of, and she may be tough to beat in the last comps. Ryan doesn’t seem to take the bait though.

A little while later, Sharon goes to Ryan and tells him that Adam offered her this deal and she doesn’t know what to do about it. She says that she’s not a liar, has never lied in the game (except for those few times that she, uh, didn’t tell the truth), and didn’t want to shake hands with Adam. Ryan basically tells her that it’s the end of the game and she may need to lie to get to the final two. But he’s pissed off that Adam went behind his back, and now he doesn’t know who to trust. He’s not sure if Adam will actually follow through with voting Sheila out of the house.

Sharon wants Ryan to take her off the block so she can cast the vote for eviction. The only problem is that she doesn’t feel that she can vote to evict Sheila, because Sheila hasn’t done anything to her, and has had her back throughout the game. So now Ryan is in a bit of a pickle, because he really wants Sheila gone this week. He’s also honest with Sharon and says that he’s worried she has three votes sitting waiting for her in sequester, and doesn’t think he can risk going to the end with her. She says she understands.

Adam and Ryan get into an argument in the HoH room after Ryan tells Adam that he knows about the deal he offered Sharon. Ryan goes on and on about how he needs to be able to trust Adam, and can’t believe he went behind his back like that. Pot, meet kettle. Adam talks his way out of it though, saying that he’s in this with Ryan to the end, his word is good, and he’s totally on board with voting Sheila out. They bond over some Sheila-bashing, and Adam apologizes for going to Sharon, saying that he only did so because he thought that she and Ryan had some sort of deal going on. Ryan acts appalled and says that he thinks Adam and Sheila have some sort of deal together. Everyone has deals with each other, boys. Get over yourselves.

Sharon wants Ryan to throw “two parts” of the HoH comp to her, so that she can win it and evict Adam. She stresses that this will keep the blood off of Ryan’s hands, and he’ll get to keep Adam’s jury vote. Ryan doesn’t seem to know what to do, but says he’ll consider it.

Mystery Solved: BB finally tells the houseguests that the existing relationship in the house is the BEEBEES, and that they’re sisters. You’d expect Sharon to be pissed off about this, right? But no, she’s fine with it and thinks it’s funny, and spends a lot of time talking to her BEEBEES afterwards. You’d also think that this would cause some second thoughts over the decision to boot Sheila because she’s been lying to them, right? But again, you’d be wrong. They could really care less.

Smoke Watch: Adam has lost (or thinks someone stole) some cigarettes that he says he had stashed away. The patches are giving him nightmares and making his tummy sore. We’re hovering on a Red Alert here now.

Fun Stuff: The hamsters find a spot on the railing where Matt etched his name. They also find some of Natalie’s hair that she had cut off, and assorted other bits of garbage that Nat left for them. This leads to some mild Natalie-bashing, and Sheila says she thought Natalie would have been a very tidy person because of her upbringing. Whatever that means.

The boys stay up late, and after discussing the possibility that the endurance part of the HoH comp might involve arm strength, they do pull-ups under the staircase, Hurricane Howie-style.

Quotes of the Day: “I hate him. This is not acting, people, this is real.” – Sheila (about Adam)

Sheila: “I should walk around calling you an asshole!”
Adam: “I am one!”

“This sucks nuts, dude.” – Adam, to Ryan, about the whole situation with Sheila and Sharon

My Thoughts: Consider Sheila gone unless she comes up with a brilliant move between now and the veto ceremony. But she doesn’t seem to have any fight left in her now. She seems to be resigned to the fact that she’s leaving.

Adam is making a mistake in not going with his gut instinct. He thinks he has a better shot at beating Ryan or Sharon in the end than Sheila, but what he doesn’t know is that Sharon wouldn’t take him. He thinks she has a deal with Ryan, which she does, but they both deny it. Adam would be much better off keeping Sheila because she truly does have his back. Both Sheila and Ryan would take Adam to the end - he’d be guaranteed a spot in the final two by keeping Sheila in the house.

Adam has the best shot at winning the game now, but first he has to get himself into the final two. If it comes down to Sharon and Ryan, Sharon will likely win the game.
