What’s Hot On TV Tonight – Happy Halloween!

We have a huge variety of things on tonight for those of you staying home to hand out candy. We have movies, including the latest from Brandon Fraser in his Mummy series, college football, a Ghost Hunter Halloween special, and even a marathon of Roseanne’s special Halloween episodes. It’s enough to stay in for!

1. College Football: Indiana at Iowa. The Hoosiers blew a 25 point lead last week, while the Hawkeyes won big against them last year. 11:00 AM CT ESPN

5. Starz Inside: Zombiemania. A fun look at the zombie craze around the world.  Featuring clips from a vast library of zombie films and zombie “experts,” the special traces the evolution of the zombie from its roots in African folklore and Haitian Voodoo to its current role as pop culture icon. 12:50 PM CT Starz Edge

6. College Football: Florida vs. Georgia. Florida has won 16 of the last 19  meetings. 2:30 PM CT CBS

7. College Football: Michigan at Illinois. Illinois is on a five-game losing streak and Wolverines have dropped three of their last four. 2:30 PM CT ABC

8. College Football: Penn State at Northwestern. PSU leads the series 9-3. 3:30 PM CT ESPN

9. Ghost. This is probably one of the two most famous Patrick Swayze movies out there. He stars in this one as Demi Moore’s dead husband, and that in itself gives me the chills. 4:00 PM CT WE

10. Scary Movie. It’s the original spoof on teen horror films, good for a laugh instead of a scare 6:00 PM CT Comedy Central

11. Ghost Hunters Halloween Live Josh Gates of Destination Truth joins with the Ghost Hunters Academy recruits to search a hospital in New Jersey. 6:00 PM CT Syfy

12. College Football: Notre Dame vs. Washington State. Notre Dame isn’t having a great year, yet Washington State has won only twice. 6:30 PM CT NBC

13. World Series: Game 3: Yankees at Phillies. The series is tied with one apiece. 6:30 PM CT Fox

14. College Football: South Carolina at Tennessee. Carolina won last  year to stop a seven-game losing streak at home in the series. 6:45 PM CT ESPN

15. SuperFetch. In the first half hour, a dog is taught to usher wedding guests, and another learns how to fetch a snack at the beach. In the second half hour, on dog help its owner flirt and carries beer to win at the beach, stealing their towels, and another delivers an engagement ring in a marriage proposal. 7:00 PM CT Animal Planet

16. College Football: Southern California at Oregon. The Trojans won big last season. 7:07 PM CT ABC

17. Dogs 101. The breed spotlight tonight is on English Mastiff, Chinese Crested, Italian Greyhound, Border Collie, Lhasa Apso. 8:00 PM CT Animal Planet

18. The Locator. In the season finale, a woman’s stepfather helps her search for the biological father she’s never known. 8:00 PM CT WE

19. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Brendan Freaser returns as Rick O’Connell, who with his wife (now played by Maria Bello) and now-adult son are duped into searching for a Chinese emperor who has come back to life. 8:00 PM CT HBO Zone East

20. 48 Hours Mystery. After having visions of dying, a mother drowns, and the investigation looks at whether it was murder or suicide. 9:00 PM CT CBS

21. Roseanne Halloween Marathon. Aa magical brew of Halloween-themed episodes of “Roseanne” to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve. Included, the Conners have a spooky night of fun with a Ouija board, a hilarious parody of the horror flick “Rosemary’s Baby,” their annual Halloween party at the lodge and finally, a night filled with antics that leads to the arrival of a new family member – Jerry Garcia Conner. 10:00 PM CT TVLand

What’s Hot On TV Tonight – More Evil Russell!

Evil Russell seems to have been lying in wait, looking for the next place to strike. He’ll find that tonight when he winds up on Galu, leading us to assume Foa Foa wins the reward challenge, and they send Russell over to the other tribe. He’ll make good on that time. He’s not worried about finding the Hidden Immunity Idol, as he already has one, so he’ll spend some time making a secret alliance with someone on the other tribe.

1. Oprah Winfrey. The topic today is the biggest stars of reality TV, with Heidi Klum, Christian Siriano, Randy Jackson, and Adam Lambert as guests. Syndicated, check local listings.

2. Duplex. This is one of those little movies that you find on cable, then end up enjoying so much you watch several times. Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore star as a young married couple. 9:00 AM CT Comedy Central

3. Bolt. Surprisingly a really good animated film with a definite message of Hollywood with John Travolta providing the voice of a dog who is the star of his own TV show, and Miley Cyrus providing the voice of his female human costar. 2:00 PM CT AMC

4. Ellen DeGeneres Show. The guests today are Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, and backup dancers from Michael Jackson’s This Is It. Syndicated, check local listings.

5. World Series: Game 2: Phillies at Yankees. Yankees are down 0-1. 6:30 PM CT Fox

6. Survivor: Samoa. Galu tries to find a new leader after Russell was forced to leave last week because of medical reasons, and Evil Russell spends time on Galu and makes an alliance with someone there. 7:00 PM CT CBS

7. Community. Jeff pursues his statistics professor, but it could interfere with Annie’s Day of the Dad party, making him torn. Pierce confronts the aging process. 7:00 PM CT NBC

8. FlashForward. Mark, Demetri, and Wedeck look for a link between the attack on Janis and themselves. Olivia confronts Mark about his flash forward, Demetri and Gough persue a clue from Mark’s flash forward, Lloyd’s son disappears from the hospital, and Simon gts in touch with a reluctant acquaintance. 7:00 PM CT ABC

9. Parks and Recreation. A young vandal hassles Leslie, leading her to get Dave and Andy to help her catch the teenager, and Ann gets unlikely help with her Halloween party. 7:30 PM CT NBC

10. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. A favorite college football coach is found murdered in his home, and his whole team becomes suspects, with the investigation showing it could be linked to an earlier unsolved crime. 8:00 PM CT CBS

11. The Office. The branch setes up a haunted house for community children, Michael dives into an important business meeting, falling into a koi pond, and Pam and Andy cold call looking for more clients.  8:00 PM CT NBC

12. Grey’s Anatomy. Derek checks the Chief’s authority with a cash of a hospital lab tech who has a tumor wrapping around his spine. 8:00 PM CT ABC

13. Supernatural. Bobby enters a high stakes poker game with a witch and antes up 25 years of his life in order to be free of his wheelchair, but loses. When he starts to age rapidly, Dean tries to save him, but also ages. 8:00 PM CT CW

14. The Jeff Dunham Show. Walter encounters a female doctor, then interviews Good Charlotte members Joel and Benji Madden, and Achme stages a funeral. 8:00 PM CT Comedy Central

15. American Chopper. When the Teutuls are invited to be guests on Larry King Live, they try to put their differences aside. 8:00 PM CT TLC

16. 30 Rock. Liz and Jack go to Kenneth’s Southern hometown to look for new talent, Jenna tries to befriend the writers, and Tracy is afraid he’ll follow a trend and become the third celebrity to die. Betty White and Jeff Dunham guest star. 8:30 PM CT NBC

17. The Mentalist. The team looks into a claim that a man was killed by a ghost haunting his mansion. 9:00 PM CT CBS

What’s Hot On TV Tonight – World Series

The World Series officially starts tonight, and is it just me, or is it later than usual. I always judge the time for the World Series by remembering coming back to our hotel during our honeymoon and flipping on the tube and seeing the earthquake that had happened in San Francisco, delaying the remainder of the World Series. So that’s sometime in the week after October 14. It’s now two weeks after that.

1. Oprah Winfrey. The topics today are Million Dollar Winners and “This Is It.” Syndicated, check local listings.

2. The Omen. Every parent’s nightmare after the film came out, and the reason why I can’t imagine why anyone would name their kid Damien after seeing the movie. 9:30 AM HBO Zone

3. Friday the 13th. Another classic horror movie. This one is classic, but the others to come after are just pretty much pure slasher. 11:00 AM Spike

4. Bonnie Hunt Show. Guests include Mackenzie Phillips and Mike Rowe. Syndicated, check local listings.

5. Ellen DeGeneres Show. Today’s guests are Katie Couric, Kate Gosselin, and Gabourey Sidibe. Syndicated, check local listings.

21. Man v. Food. Adam’s trip to Baltimore starts with a visit to Chaps Charcoal Restaurant to try a carnivorous creation found only in Baltimore: pit beef. What’s Hot On TV Tonight – It’s the Great Pumpkin!

Seeing the Great Pumpkin again just brings out the kid in me, and after that, we have two dancing shows, with So You Think You Can Dance getting down to the regular performances finally and also already axing two, and Dancing With the Stars having a double elimination after a danceoff. For some odd reason CW and CBS are taking the night off again. 

1. Regis and Kelly. The guests today include Courteney Cox and Creed, and a pumpkin-picking trip with Kelly and her family is shown as well. Syndicated, check local listings.

2. Vision Quest. If you’re looking for a story on a guy that refuses to give up, it’s this one about a wrestler who will do anything to win big. Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino star. 10:20 AM CT Encore Love

3. The Martha Stewart Show. The show will feature a pet costume fashion show with the help of celebrated designer Isaac Mizrahi. Martha will craft a cat mask; prepare apple-cheddar dog biscuits and share Halloween pet safety tips. The audience will include costumed pets as well. Syndicated, check local listings.

4. The Women. Remake of a 1939 film with an all female cast starring Meg Ryan, Annette Benning, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Debra Messing as socialites who discover one of them has a cheating husband. 12:00 PM CT HBO West

  Divisions in the club are made worse with Zobelle’s business dealings with SAMCRO. Making it more worse, Georgie Caruso’s thugs attack Luanne’s studio. Clay makes an agreement with Elliott Oswald, and Chibs’ estranged wife shows up at the hospital. 9:00 PM CT FX

19. 2009 Scream Awards.

24. Secret Lives of Women. Two women who tried to leave their controlling husbands and paid a horrific price are featured. Highlighting the explosive Drew Peterson case, this episode shines a light on the signs of a “control killer” through Amy Jones, who miraculously survived being shot twice in the head by her husband, and Jessica Lenahan, whose three daughters were tragically killed by her abusive husband. 9:00 PM CT WE

25. The Hills. Justi’s plan to play hard to get with Kristin backfires, Holly keeps drinking leading Heidi and Stephanie to stage an intervention, and Brody and Jayde get in another fight, and he’s left questioning his relationship. 9:00 PM CT MTV

What’s Hot On TV Tonight – Meet the So You Think You Can Dance Top 20

First it seemed to take forever to get through the auditions and Vegas week which was really Vegas three weeks, and now we have way too much crammed into three nights this week. Normally we have an intro to the top 20 only as we watch them find out the same thing, but tonight we have a special meet and greet as we watch them do solos in their own genre, unjudged. Tomorrow night is the first night of performances, and Wednesday, the first two are sent home. And the guy in the picture to the left? That’s Nathan, the guy that waas too young to audition for last summer’s season.

1. The View. Paula Anka guests on the show discussing his dispute over Michael Jackson’s single “This Is It.” 10:00 AM CT ABC

2. Beowulf. The book put me to sleep back in English Lit class in High School, but in Matt Wedge’s review of the film, he found weak characterization, yet dynamic and occasionally grotesque visuals. 10:05 AM CT The Movie Channel East

3. The Shining. To me, this is my ultimate scary movie. The one where I wouldn’t want to be alone afterwards. Find out why at Sazze. 1:00 PM CT AMC

7. Dancing With the Stars. The waltz and jitterbug are performed tonight, as well as a group performance of the mambo. 7:00 PM CT ABC

8. One Tree Hill. Renee appears as a guest on Dan’s TV show, Quinn reexamines her marriage, Sara and Clay look back on their past, and Brooke tells Julian what she really wants. Star James Lafferty directs this episode. 7:00 PM CT CW

9. House. The top twenty dancers are introduced. 7:00 PM CT Fox

10. Lincoln Heights. Tay is excited to enter a singing contest held by Trey Songz, Jenn finds out her illness may not be just the flu, Cassie wants Charles to get more serious about his future, and Eddie’s father surprises him with a visit. 7:00 PM CT ABC Family

11. Little People, Big World. In the first half hour, Zach and Jeremy check out a nearby college, but Amy doesn’t think they’re ready for that yet, and in the second half hour, Amy lets the kids have their friends over to their home that has recently been remodeled, but Matt thinks it’s still too chaotic and cluttered. 7:00 PM CT TLC

12. Monday Night Football: Eagles at Redskins. An NFC East showdown. Both teams were beaten last week. 7:30 PM CT ESPN

13. Trauma. Tyler and Boone get sent to a Halloween party that goes awry, and Nancy and Glenn run into an unexpected situation. 8:00 PM CT NBC

14. Gossip Girl. Chuck asks for PR assistance from Serena for the grand opening of a club in his new hotel, with Blair secretly helping as well. Dan is shocked when he watches an onscreen sex scene of Olivia’s, Jenny faces and obstacle in her relationship with Eric, and Rufus and Lily celebrate Halloween. 8:00 PM CT CW

18. Castle. A man wearing vampire teeth is found dead in a graveyard with a stake through his heart. The investigation takes Castle and Beckett to a group with vampire fetishes, and they find clues in a graphic novel written by the victim. 9:00 PM CT ABC

19. Extreme Paranormal. Tonight features a visit to a former mental asylum where claims of strange sightings have been reported, and a trip to a swamp outside of New Orleans in an effort to communicate with the spirits of of people who died in a hurriciane in 1915. 9:00 PM CT A&E

20. Million Dollar Listing. Chad and Madison are asked to speak at an Arizona real estate conference to discuss the state of the high end housing market, Chad and Josh both try to expand their sales territories, with Chad looking at a small bungalow and Josh listing a $10 million mansion. 9:00 PM CT Bravo

21. Rita Rocks. In the first half hour, Shannon’s teacher wants Rita and Jay’s daughter in a school for gifted children, and Hallie does a walkathon for breast cancer to take her mind off the single life, and in the second half hour, Rita plans a fashion show fundraiser arond Hallie’s design work, but Rita isn’t confident looking at the dress Hallie creates for her. Jay goes too far as a cup-stacking coach for Shannon. 9:00 PM CT Lifetime

22. Gone Too Far. DJ AM is introduced to a 20-year-old heroin addict who’s already lost family members to drugs. 9:00 PM CT MTV

This is just kind of unfair. We have the Arizona Cardinals facing off against the New York Giants. It’s the number one team in one division against the bottom feeder of another, a winless team against one who has only lost one game.

1. Kindergarten Cop. This is of course before he became the governor of California, yet it’s still amusing to watch Arnold Schwarzenegger playing with a roomful of Kindergartners. 11:50 AM Encore Wam

5. Burn After Reading. The Coen Brothers are at it again, this time Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand star as employees of a gym that find a CD with sensitive info that belongs to a CIA agent. 1:50 PM CT Cinemax West

6. NFL Football: Bears at Bengals. These two teams seem pretty well matched up … until you look at the rushing game. That’s where the Bears are hurting. 3:15 PM CT Fox

7. 60 Minutes. An investigation into Medicare and Medicaid fraud, a profile of Tyler Perry, and reports on the search for an epilepsy cure. 6:00 PM CT CBS

8. America’s Funniest Home Videos. Clips include a man’s prankish wedding proposal, unusual sleeping habits, and a salute ot Kentucky. 6:00 PM CT ABC

9. The Amazing Race 15. The race continues in Dubai, with the teams going to a water park, where a large slide causes problems for Meghan, who has a fear of heights. 7:00 PM CT CBS

10. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
An engineer who feeds the hungry in his community has his home rebuilt, with Chefs Rocco DiSpirito, Sandra Lee, Art Smith, an Spike Mendalsohn helping out. 7:00 PM CT ABC>

12. Three Rivers. Andy’s group rushes in to save lives when a busy carrying a high school football team crashes. The parents of one player need to make a decisions about donating his organs. 8:00 PM CT CBS

13. Desperate Housewives. Susan and Katherine get in a physical fight over Mike, Angie and Nick cover it up when Danny has a lapse in judgement, Gaby wants to show she’s a good mom, a motel maid gives Bree a hard time abouther affair with Karl, and Lynette gets annoyed when a handyman keeps looking for only Tom’s approval. 8:00 PM CT ABC

14. Werewolves: The Dark Survivors. This examines the possible existance of werewolves and looks into their lives and behaviors. 8:00 PM CT Animal Planet

21. Brothers & Sisters. Sarah’s new French artist boyfriend makes an instant impression on the Walkers, Robert does his best to take Kitty’s mind off her illness, and Kevin and Scotty take an interesting turn in their debate over starting a family. 9:01 PM CT ABC

22. My Fair Wedding With David Tutera. The “Candy Bride” – Dayira manages to make David’s jaw drop when she reveals that most of her accessories are made of candy. What’s Hot On TV Tonight – Dexter Season Premiere

Looking at cable channels, it’s sometimes hard to see what night the show originally airs on. They repeat them so many times during the week, that you look at the listings and ask, wait did I see this one yet? But tonight is the official season premiere of Dexter. This is a good thing, as Saturday Night Live is already airing repeats tonight.

1. College Football: Minnesota at Ohio State. Both teams are coming off road losses. 11:00 AM CT ESPN

3. Must Love Dogs. A lonely couple meet up with each other through a computer dating site. It doesn’t have as much to do with dogs as it sounds, but is still a cute movie. 12:25 PM CT TBS

What’s Hot On TV Tonight – Clarence Clemons?

It seems like a special treat to me to see Clarence Clemons, of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band fame pop up on a sitcom, but he’s popping up on two Fox sitcoms tonight. Someone at Fox is a huge Springsteen fan it seems. There’s no argument here. Born to Run is one of my favorite songs ever. Also don’t miss the premiere of White Collar on USA in psych’s time slot. I got a chance to view the premiere, and it’s a keeper! 

1. Oprah Winfrey. The guest today is the always fun Wanda Sykes. Syndicated, check local listings.

2. The Wedding Singer. This is a movie we have to sneak onto our TV sets, or at least we did when my daughter was much younger. It made her cry so hard at the end, especially the song he sings on the airplane. I’m thinking she’s past that now, but we haven’t attempted it. 11:00 AM CT WE

3. Beaches. A movie for all of  us that treasure our friendships, starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey. 1:00 PM CT WE

8. Supernanny. In the season premiere, Jo wants a set of parents to examine their relationship when the father seems to dote more on his biological sons than his stepdaughter, making the mother uncomfortable. 7:00 PM CT ABC

9. Smallville. Victoria, aka Roulette, kidnaps Oliver and warns him his life is in danger. He’s then arrested after she’s found dead, leading him to look for help from Chloe. Lois gets upset with Clark for  not telling her about Oliver’s suicide attempt. 7:00 PM CT CW

10. Brothers. Coach’s team goes on a losing streak, so he gets rid of assistant coach Chill and asks Mike to help. The new hostess at the bar gets the gossip mill going to attract customers, including Nancy O’Dell and Kim Kardashian. Clarence Clemons makes an appearance as well. 7:00 PM CT Fox

11. ‘Til Death. Doug’s dad get him and Ally a lot of money, and Eddie decides to write a book about the Hindenburg. Clarence Clemons appears in this show as well. 7:30 PM CT Fox

14. Ugly Betty. A customer of  Hilda’s helps Betty get the scoop from a top designer, but when Marc plots against her, a confrontation occurs at the restaurant where Ignacio works. 15. Dollhouse. Sierra’s intro to the Dollhouse is revealed when she looks into her connection to the Rossum Corporation, a connection that leads to obsession and murder. Keith Carradine guest stars. 7:00 PM CT Fox

21. NUMB3RS. The daughter of a geneticist is kidnapped and the girl’s unstable mother is suspected. It all becomes even more complicated when they find the girl may be a clone. Charlie and Amita talk bout having children, and Liz revelas a dark secret. 9:00 PM CT CBS

24. White Collar. It’s the series premiere of a con man escapes from a Maximum-security prison, and the FBI agent who put him there offers him a deal to keep him out if he helps him catch other White Collar criminals.
