What’s Hot On TV Tonight – Kennedy Center Honors

There’s some big names being honored tonight on Kennedy Center Honors. Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Springsteen are the biggest names. But the performers and presenters include even more big names: Meryl Streep, Sting, Aretha Franklin, John Mellencamp, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and that’s just the beginning. This stands out tonight among all the repeats on network TV.

1. Regis and Kelly. Guests include Eddie Cibrian, LL Cool J, and Twisted Sister, and Kelly performs with the cast of Mary Poppins. I think I’d rather see her perform with Twisted Sister. Syndicated, check local listings.

2. 21. A group of of guys going to MIT come up with a card-counting scheme and it used to great benefit in Las Vegas. Stars Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey. 9:20 AM CT Encore East

3. The Happening. Mark Wahlberg stars as a high school science teacher escaping an illness that is attacking the popular of the country along with his wife, John Leguizamo, and Leguizamo’s daughter. 12:30 AM CT HBO Signatures East

5. EagleBank Bowl: Temple vs. UCLA. It’s the first meeting between the two schools and the first bowl game for Temple in thirty years. 3:30 PM CT ESPN

6. Rudolph’s Shiny New Year. Our favorite shiny-nosed reindeer embarks on a quest to find Santa. At least this time they waited until the week between Christmas and New Year’s to air this. 7:00 PM CT ABC

7. Benchwarmers. Anything with Rob Schneider, David Spade, Jon Heder, and Jon Lovitz is either going to be really good or really bad. 7:00 PM CT Fox

8. Champs Sports Bowl: Miami vs. Wisconsin. It’s Wisconsin’s sixth straight bowl game in lorida, while Miami is looking for its first 10 win season since 2003. 7:00 PM CT ESPN

11. Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal. Two 13-year-old boys join a paranormal investigation at a haunted opera house, but their fathers are left skeptical about their sons’ possible psychic abilities  8:00 PM CT A&E

12. One Big Happy Family. Series premiere of an obese family, the Coles, on a weight loss journey.  Each member of the family used to weigh well over 300 pounds and they have turned to each other for motivation to lose weight. They are documenting their journey to drop those pounds. Tonight we meet the family. 8:00 PM CT TLC

13. Private Chefs of Beverly Hills. Reality series about a private chef placement agency that caters to a discriminating clientele in LA. 8:00 PM CT Food Network

14. Better Off Ted. When Veronica’s magician boyfriend resurfaces, she slacks off at work, bringing Ted to get in the middle of her love life in order to get her to concentrate again on her job. Lem gets a perplexing red lab coat.   8:30 P M CT ABC

15. Paranormal State. In the first half hour the team investigates a home where a recording has picked up t he words “kill them,” and the young son survives a fall, only to say he was pushed.  And in the second half hour, a mansion with voices and banging noises is investigated. 9:00 PM CT A&E
