What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Daughtry, No Doubt, and Paula Perform!

Posted on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in American Idol, What's Hot On TV

RAY_6565.jpg

American Idol will definitely be hot tonight. First, we’ll have performances from Daughtry, who was eliminated in final four surprisingly during his season, No Doubt, and Paula Abdul, who is promoting a new single. Either way, even if she’s good, I think Paula will get flak from everyone for that bold move. Then we’ll see someone voted out, and after last week, I wouldn’t be surprised by anything, but I think Adam Lambert is the only safe one, feeling his fans will keep him well-protected this week.

1. Regis and Kelly. Telecast from Miami Beach, today’s guests are Rob Lowe, the Marlins Manatees, and Matt Giraud, last seen on Ellen on Monday. He was amazing on there, will he do the same today for Reeg and Kelly? Syndicated, check local listings.

2. The View. Guests include Judge Judy Sheindlin, Justin Chambers, and the men of the hour Twitter cofounders Biz Stone and Evan Williams. 10:00 AM CT ABC

3. College Road Trip. This movie is on my mind a lot with my son being a high school sophomore and current discussions sometimes center around what and where. I have promised him I will not act like Martin Lawrence here. Find out more in my review at Film Monthly. 10:30 AM CT Starz West

4. You Don’t Mess With the Zohan. It’s not a bad movie and has some laughs, but it gets a little insulting at times. Yet, it has a good message if you really look for it. 1:55 PM CT Starz

What’s Hot On TV Tonight - How Do You Choose Who Leaves

Posted on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in America's Next Top Model, American Idol, What's Hot On TV

MLB_8221.jpg

Well, it’s a good thing it’s not left up to just just one person to see who leaves American Idol tonight. I think it’s just to tough to choose. There wasn’t any real stinker of a performance last night, and additionally, even the judges seemed to be spread out over who they liked. I still think Adam is safe until at last final three, but I can see any of the other four going home tonight. If Allison Iraheta’s and Matt Giraud’s fans rallied, it could be someone else that thought their Idol was safe and didn’t vote. I’ll be sad posting a commentary on it tonight, but I won’t be surprised I don’t think, no matter what.

1. Racing Stripes. Hayden Panettiere stars as a girl growing up on a horse farm that begins taking care of a zebra (voiced by Frankie Muniz), who doesn’t realize he’s not a horse and wants to race with the others at the track. The voices of Dustin Hoffman, Joe Pantoliana, and Whoopi Goldberg are included as well. 11:50 AM CT HBO Family

2. The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen’s guests are Michael Douglas, NASCAR’s Carl Edwards, and a finalist from last year’s Britain’s Got Talent, Faryl Smith. 3:00 PM CT NBC

3. The Burning Bed. Way before getting accused of being a nut because of bizarre talk show appearances, and way before getting sick, Farrah Fawcett starred in this movie as a woman who killed her abusive husband. 3:40 PM CT Encore Drama

4. Rules of Engagement. Steve, having marital woes, is invited to stay with Jeff and Audrey, but it gets awkward when Steve gets touchy-feely. 7:00 PM CT CBS

What’s Hot On TV Tonight - 2/7 = 28.5%

Posted on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in American Idol, What's Hot On TV

Idol_logo.jpg

After the big Save on Matt Giraud last week, we’re going to lose two on American Idol tonight. It didn’t seem like a lot when there were 13 and we first heard about the Save, but at 7 left, it’s a lot. 2 out of 7 is 28%%, so we’ll be losing more than a quarter of our finalists tonight. Applying the math to it makes it a little different doesn’t it? I think Lil has to be one of the two, and the other person will be someone that has been in the bottom three before, meaning Matt, Anoop, or Allison. If I was a betting woman, which I’m not because I always lose, I’d bet on Anoop and Lil.

1. About Last Night. Yet another 80s classic, which I think is pretty definitive of young relationships form that time. 9:30 AM CT Oxygen

2. The Bonnie Hunt Show. A 9-year-old has tips for Earth Day, and the guests include Kunal Nayyar, and best of all, Mary Tyler Moore. She was such an important part of my growing up, from The Dick Van Dyke Show to The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She’s the quintessential woman that had it all. 2:00 PM CT NBC

3. Scrubs. After J.D. makes peace with Kim, he finds she’s dating Eliot’s ex. Turk asks the staff at the Sacred Heart to help him go after a promotion. 7:00 PM CT ABC

4. America’s Next Top Model. We’re in Sao Paulo, Brazil, tonight, as the aspiring models go on a scavenger hunt, testing their navigation skills. They need navigation skills to be a model? Check in later in the week for a detailed recap of tonight’s show at the Reality Shack main site. 7:00 PM CT CW

What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Happy 16th Birthday, Mike!

Posted on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in America's Next Top Model, American Idol, What's Hot On TV

Mike1st.jpg

If you’ll indulge me for a few seconds, it’s my son’s 16th birthday today, and being that I have brought my love of TV and movies to him, I thought I’d use this as a special way to wish him a happy one. I dug pretty deep into the movie wells today to find movies that always remind me of him. After celebrating his birthday tonight, we’ll be watching the American Idol results show. Is it Lil’s time to go finally? I don’t think she gets it.

1. The Kid. My son always liked this one and the 8 year old always reminded me of him a tad bit. Bruce Willis stars as a successful man who doesn’t realize he is unhappy until he meets up with his 8-year-old self and realizes where it all went wrong. At some point I think we could all use that insight, whether it “went wrong” or not. 12:00 PM CT Encore West

2. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. My son likes to think he’s Ferris. In fact, he thought he would get a computer for his 16th birthday like Ferris. Not in this economy. My son is probably the only person I know that would actually get on a float in a parade and do this, though. 4:30 PM CT HBO Signature East.

3. The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The youngsters will be all atwitter with today’s show with both Zac Efron and Demi Lovato on. John Garcia appears as well. 3:00 PM CT NBC

4. Scrubs. In a unique seaside ceremony, the Janitor and Lady get married. 7:00 PM CT ABC

What’s Hot On TV Tonight - The Unusuals

No, I’m not talking about the cast of American Idol or ANTM. It’s a new show on ABC tonight. It’s a detective drama, and tonight, the lead character moves to homicide from vice, as her new partner is trying to find the killer of his last partner. Don’t you love how they come up with really fresh ideas like this? Seriously, how many times have we found the new partner because the old one was murdered thing?

Airplane! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this movie, and it still makes me laugh just as hard. Surely you can’t be serious. Yea, I am, and stop calling me Shirley. 12:45 PM CT 5Star Max

Tyra Banks. Today Tyra discusses using Facebook and Twitter. Hey, I’m on both! You can find me here at Facebook, and on Twitter, I’m LauraBelle64. Tyra will also have the aspiring model most recently eliminated from America’s Next Top Model as a guest. Syndicated, check local listings.

Rudy. Of all the underdog sports movies out there, I think this has to be one of the most inspiring. 4:30 PM CT AMC

What’s Hot On TV Tonight - I Get That a Lot

Posted on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in America's Next Top Model, American Idol, What's Hot On TV

EGET102PROBST.jpg.jpeg

You know how you see someone you could swear was a famous person, and you say, “Hey, has anyone ever told you you look like Jeff Probst?” The person then says, “I get that alot.” That’s what’s on CBS tonight, except it really will be Jeff Probst, posting as a casher. Jessica Simpson and Heidi Klum will be on as well. And after that, of course, is our American Idol results. Who’s leaving tonight? The bottom three has been so unpredictable, I’m not making any bets.

1. Oprah Winfrey. Today’s guests are celebrity women that have lost weight. Star Jones, Valerie Bertinelli, and Marie Osmond. Big props to Valerie, the most recent loser. What do you think Eddie’s thinking? Syndicated, check local listings

2. Regis and Kelly. If you missed him yesterday on Oprah, Michael J. Fox is on here today, along with Cloris Leachman. Both have new books out, and I’m planning to read both. Syndicated, check local listings.

3. Year of the Dog. This movie really makes you think about pets and their place in our lives as well as animal activism and when it goes too far. 11:45 AM Showtime East
